Proximity to village amenities It is a six minute walk from Ardyne to the nearest grocery shop, the Fisherman's Co-op situated opposite the Harbour Master's office by the quay. "The Larder" fruit and veg shop is a further one minute's walk and the Co-op is another minute's walk. The Post Office is a ten minute walk from Ardyne, situated near the Co-op. |
By Car You will pass three lochs on the way to Tarbert-Lochs Lomond, Long and Fyne. From Glasgow M8 follow signs for Erskine Bridge, Junction 30. Keep left, once over the bridge follow signs for Crianlarich on A82. At Tarbet continue on A83. Keep going through Inveraray for around 35 miles until you reach Lochgilphead then turn left for Campbeltown. Journey 2.5 hours.
By Boat Showers, toilets, a launderette, a chandlery and electricity are available in Tarbert's natural harbour - one of the safest in Britain and there are pontoons for over 200 craft.
By Ferry From Glasgow take the M8/A8 to Greenock,then the A770 to Gourock where the ferry sails to Dunoon. Drive along A815 to Strachur then take A886 to Glendaruel and then the A8003 to Tighnabruaich whence to Portavadie. (Or from Dunoon take the A815 and then B836 to Stronafian and Glendaruel and then continue as above to Portavadie). Take a ferry from Portavadie (every hour from 0945 to 1945) to Tarbert (just beside Ardyne).
By Bus From Glasgow's Buchanan Bus Stop three times a day (Monday to Saturday) and twice on Sundays. The starting times are approximately 0900, 1330 and 1800 hours. There is also a Coach service from Oban.
By Air Fly to Glasgow International or you can fly from Glasgow to Machrihanish, Campbeltown (38 miles south of Tarbert). |
